It all 'bout the Money.........I wonder if Finkelstein might be right....
..or is it in some way that the org is bleeding money?
there has been many changes in the past decade, but there is a difference between the stated reason and what we perceive as the real reason.. those who have access to the letters can fill in some of the stated reasons or benefits.
it is like they are afraid of telling the truth.
stating that they are making business decisions for monetary reasons.

Outlaw: To turn the other chick.......
...maybe he thought of a Kentycky fried chick? :-P
as of yet, no member of the jehovah's witness faith can defend their unique beliefs.
when the dust settles, it all comes down to blind faith in men's ever-changing ideas.
this "unique belief" was not a "true teaching of the bible.
Just one thought again, Defender. Related to that 1969-Awake. Have a look at this:
1Cor 7:25-31
25 Now about virgins: I have no command from the Lord, but I give a judgment as one who by the Lord’s mercy is trustworthy. 26 Because of the present crisis, I think that it is good for a man to remain as he is. 27 Are you pledged to a woman? Do not seek to be released. Are you free from such a commitment? Do not look for a wife. 28 But if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.
29 What I mean, brothers and sisters, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they do not; 30 those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep; 31 those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away."
The Bible itself (Paul) was telling the christians in the first century not to marry and have families. The end was supposed to be so close. This was written about 1900 years before that infamous Awake of 1969. It's not difficult to come to some conclusions. ........but it's tragic. Who knows how many of the first christians were fooled by Paul not to have a normal life in stead of waiting for the end of the world. I hope we have learned our lession in our time.

To all members! We shall be thankful to Heavensgate. With sush a publisher the org doen't need any enemies or apostates. The wa he treats a brother in fatith is just....
Keep up the "good" work, Heven.
To DOT, excuse me for being ironic towards him, but he seem to treat you like an idiot. I think you are entitled to get straightforward answers about the 1969-Awake and that generation stuff. Probably some JW's don't want you to get those answers. Then you have to think for youself end investigate. You have got some answrs from us "apostates". Please, don't trust us because we say we are trustworthy and always right. Be sceptic to me/us. Check out what is told to you. And judge for yourself. Take care , Defender..........don't go to the elders with a lot of questions, that might cause you trouble.
I hope you continue writing here and that people will treat you nice.

DOT, why not trust your own thinking abilities? I am sure you have begun doing it a bit. Jst continue.
Just a few thoughts from me. The 1969 Awake was published during the 1975-hype. If Armageddon were supposed to come 1975 it was logical writing that youngsters would not have the time to get an education in this system. I am sure that very few JWs reacted to that article when it was published.
Then, ask youself about the teaching of the overlapping genrations. Ask youselt why the WT have changed that generation teaching four times since 1995. Hint, 1994 was 80 years after 1914.
if you and a fellow jehovah's witness went to a house where the homeowner brought up a watchtower doctrine which you secretly disagree with, would you defend it or tell them what it is you really believe?.
either way you are at a loss.. defending something you disagree with is living a lie and telling a lie.
not defending it and telling the home owner what you really believe makes you an apostate by watchtower society standards.
"....Although [Joseph] Rutherford served for 25 years as president of the Watch Tower Society and devoted all his energy to advancing the work of the organization, he was not the leader of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and he did not want to be."
This quote is a little gem!

DOT!
"I was trying to get the viewpoint of an experienced fellow Witness, how can that quote from 1945 mean anything but to worship Jesus? It says we should 'worship Jehovah and also bow down and worship Jesus', in the same context.
And how could we state it as fact that children WOULD NOT grow old or finish school. An answer to either/both of these points would be helpful,"
Most active JW's don't have an idea of how much the WT dogma has changed during the years. Don't blame yourself for not knowing about the old teachings. You may ask for older litterature at your KH library, but I am sure that tghe elders wil try their best to keep you from reading it.
That quote from Awake was published during the 1975 hype. If you are a young person you probably dont know the real truth about 1975. It was so embarrasing for most people in the organisation that they are not happy to tell younger JW's about it. But maybe you have heared som inside stories about 1975. Try to ask elderly peoble in the congegration........some of them may tell a little.
i believe it is mostly guilt.
many witnesses pioneer or "reach out" in the religion because they feel guilty.. they may feel they aren't doing enough.
they may have secretly "sinned" against rules imposed by the organization.
I don't know if the quasi-psychological term "armageddon axiety" is used internationally, but I think the fear of being killed is one of the moste importnt factors keeping people from thinking and questioning. Also, I think tht the "what if"-reasoning is related to the "armageddon anxiety". Probably the "armageddon axiety" may persist for a long time in quite a lot of XJWs. I am thinking about reactions to disasters or to that UN-Vatican report on sexual abuse.
i have read today this quote from one member on facebook going by the name of ruth eeker.. .
based on her quote, she states that "as well in regards to the un, the society has various name versions registered still in the un.
so they are still not completely out of the supposed beast!".
bump again
if i were the all-powerful creator of all the universe it would be a very easy thing to prove my existence, requirements and will in an indisputable and unambiguous way.
everyone would know of my existence and requirements without them having to put forth effort to believe based on limited, ambiguous evidence that is highly subject to interpretation.
i would regard faith as a harmful trait that makes one vulnerable to being deceived.
Just one question. Why should an omnipotent omniscient creator want worshippers? Succh great being would probably not be narcissistic! :-) Believe is one thing, worship is someting different.
